The best Indian food I have had since I left NYC many years ago, and that is no joke. They have all your favorites; curry, tikka masala, saag, naan, samosas, and all delicious. Mouth fireworks. Especially if you haven't been there before and don't know the spice levels. We went for medium, and that might be a bit much. But as our lips turned bright red and numbed, we could not stop eating. I am not big on spicy hot, and I powered through an entire lunch, enjoying every minute of it. But I would recommend going for mild unless you like your mouth to burn. And burn and burn.* The menu is reasonably priced, the owners/staff were great, and there's free water on the counter! We decided we wanted some adult bevs, so when my friend went to pay in the gas station portion, she picked up some tall boys of the Champagne of Beers. It paired quite nicely with our meal. I've been around the block a few times, and my experience has always been that the best place to get authentic cuisine from any country is in the divey-est place you can find. Sure it's in a gas station. And you're sitting at tables rescued from some unnamed fast food joint. The kitchen is concealed behind a curtain, and you get your water from a community dispenser on the counter.... but when your food comes out, who cares? Don't overlook this wonderful treasure that has thankfully ended up in OKC. It's hard to find cuisine from other countries that taste like it was homemade just for you. So hurry up to the gas station Indian restaurant, Tandoor, and eat your heart out! You're gonna love it, guys. Bonus, that should not be overlooked: Indian grocery store!! I purchased some tea toast that you can't find anywhere, and it made me sooooo happy. *Sidenote: I had no tummy troubles afterwards. And I think we can all agree, that is quite something after eating molten, authentic Indian food.

Looks can be very deceiving when it comes to this place. From the outside all you see is a truck stop. But as soon as you step inside your senses awaken to a whole new world. Not only does this restaurant offer a great selection of classic Indian food, they also have a grocery store! They have a lunchtime buffet that's really great. They're open til ten so when I don't feel like cooking I can get a great meal at an affordable price. I've become a regular at this restaurant and they know me when I walk in the door. The food is great, the service is great, and I couldn't ask for a better price. You should totally eat here as often as you can. My personal favorite is the chicken tiki masala and the garlic naan!

Wow. Words can't describe how incredible that meal just was (chicken tikka masala extra spicy, garlic naan). I have yet had the privilege of visiting India, but I imagine this is what this dish would taste like there. It wasn't prepared the typical American way, all thick/creamy with large chunks of onion. The sauce was thin, but so packed with flavorful authenticity my taste buds leapt with glee. The chicken was definitely tender for white meat. The garlic naan was jammed packed with garlic goodness. Bravo. If I lived within 40 miles of this place I guarantee they would know me by name here. Did I just fall in love with food from a gas station?!

I ordered Goat curry w/Naan bread. First off, the neigborhood is not that great but not that bad either especially if you go during the day, I've not had any problems. Ok about the food; I order here because I love goat curry and it's hard to find. The naan bread is oily, and the colorful rice is oily. Call ahead for goat though because they don't always have it on hand, and there is a wait. I am also making an update to the earlier paragraph, and that is I've been to this gas station/restaurant about six times, and so far the last three times I have found HAIR in my rice. I am disappointed because I really liked the goat curry/rice dinner. I find this to be unreal. I can see once but three times. Really disappointed.

Spicy Indian food prepared fresh at a tandoor in a grocery store at a gas station in a really obscure (read: shady) location. Not quite a restaurant, and more like a mini kitchen, Tandoor is nonetheless a rare find. If you place your order on the phone for pick-up, the kitchen staff will promptly get it ready for you though a gentle reminder 20 mins before you're ready to pick up your meal will save you a long wait. Although Tandoor's menu is fairly limited, their food is quite good, but a tad expensive. Try the chicken tikka boti; it's spicy, succulent & grilled just right. Their biryani & samosas are also mouth-watering. The best thing about this place is that they will spice the food according to your preference, so you can always customize the taste as per your liking. Be warned though that if you order spicy, they really mean business, so mild would be a better option if you're not into sizzling hot food. The only thing I would skip is their daal (lentil curry), it is watery and bland with no taste or flavor. Sadly, they no longer offer seekh or chapli kebabs, two great items that have been crossed off their menu for whatever reason. Their chicken curry, and chicken tikka masala are also pretty good. Overall, this is a great place for fresh, gourmet take-away if you're into Indian food.

My boyfriend and I have been to Oklahoma City plenty of times. He is a huge fan of Indian food so I decided to do my research and with everybody's reviews it lead me to this place. I understood it was in a gas station so I wasn't too worried about the overall ambiance of our environment. But once we got there the staff (to me) were very stand-offish. My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Curry, two pieces of Naan and some rice. The person taking our order told us to go pay in the other room. We did so and I asked the cashier if we paid here and he was rude about it. I didn't think anything too much of it, but once we found a clean table we sat down and I became very uncomfortable. The other staff members kept looking back and forth from the curtain they were behind. Me and my boyfriend started to think this place wasn't that impressive, until we got the food. The food was incredible. Well seasoned and all around a nice first experience with the way Indian food tastes. Overall the environment and the staff were not impressive at all. The food is the only reason we would even consider to go back, so when we do it's going to be take-out.

Best goat curry I've ever had. We ordered goat curry and chicken tikka masala. Their ' spicy ' was the perfect level of spice for me and all the food was absolutely delicious. So much so that we asked to speak to their chef later and thanked him for a meal that reminded us of being in india. We were also excited to have a chance to stock up on some Indian groceries on our drive. Maggi noodles are perfect late night meals :)

With all the great reviews- this was major let down. We were there at 11:30 AM passing through. The buffet looked hurting. A buffet that looks sad at what would be the start of lunch rush is a very bad sign. So i decided to order a la carte. I asked the man at the counter which paneer dish he liked better the saag or the marsala. He kept telling me what the dishes were. I was like- no I understand what they are what they are- what do you like better? He said the Marsala was more popular. We ordered the Paneer Marsala and the Chicken Korma and Naan. Naan was pretty dry- not the best. Dishes were edible, but not as spiced as I would have hoped, and kind of watery. I am guessing people in this city are not used to the levels of quality of that indian restaurants in other cities exude. Any person taking an order and can't seem to get over that a white customer might actually know what they are ordering is most likely not used to dealing with customesr used to the genre of food- I am guessing. Maybe it was just a bad day? Not bad for a truck stop I guess. But for the price I would have expected much better. It came to around 20 bucks. I did not get sick or anything but I would not go back.

Pretty tasty and a low price. It is pretty divey, but that adds to the experience.

Received an invite for lunch at Tandoor. When advised of the location, to my knowledge, only wafflehouse, truckstops, and prostitute-quality motels were in this area. I was a bit apprehensive that there would be a passable food restaurant. When I arrived, I realized that Tandoor restaurant was located inside the same super cluttered gas station that I had visited 3 days prior with my friends for refreshments. This place is very easy to miss, unless you actually looking for it. When I walked into the restaurant area, I was not at all impressed. It appeared that the restaurant, and buffet table were put together in 1 day using spare/used pieces of unwanted restaurant equipment. Now, about the food. Polar opposite from the location/appearance. Food was delicious. Tandoori chicken was the best that I've had. Naan was super fresh, the best I've had, and I'm not embellishing. There was not huge selection(buffet). Maybe 8 dishes, including Chili Chicken, a vegetarian okra dish, meatballs, rice, Tandoori chicken, a vegetable medley stew dish, rice pudding and one or 2 others. While this certainly isn't the sort of place to take a date, if you're in the area, I'd recommend take out or buffet. The last time that I purchased food from a truckstop was a self-heating lasagna(it's a real thing), so it was easy to top my truckstop cuisine experience. Regardless, I'll definitely be back.

I decided to stop here on the way to the airport for lunch after seeing the reviews. At lunch, there is a buffet for something like $7. It's not the biggest, but it has some decent options. Everything I tried was fantastic! Saag paneer was my favorite, followed by the chicken tikka masala. The naan was buttery and delicious, and the tandoori chicken was tasty. Since it was a buffet and I was early, I got in and out within 15 minutes to catch my flight. The people aren't all that friendly, but I can deal with that for the outstanding cost:taste ratio.

First of all don't let the Truck stop/gas station/convenience store/Subway fool you. When you get to the 'restaurant', its nothing to brag about. Just some cheap tables and tin chairs. What is interesting is the food. I was just there yesterday night and my co workers and i began our meal with this red chicken and garlic naan bread. The chicken was 'off the chain' and the bread was fresh and toasty. I ordered the Curry Chicken Spicy. The meal came with rice on the side plus i ordered another basket of naan bread. The curry was Outstanding with a tremendous amount of heat. So hot in fact i was sweating yet enjoying my meal at the same time. So with that if your in Midwest City i highly recommend this place for some great chow at a great price.

Great, Authentic Indian food. A true hole-in the-wall OKC treasure. I've had Indian in Houston, Dallas, and Memphis that don't come close to this.

  • Luke D.

This is, hands down, the best food in town. If you're going for ambiance, go elsewhere (unless you like simple and authentic). If you want the best Indian you've ever had, try this place out. The buffet is small as it's a small business...we're talking about 6 entrees total. However, everything they make is outstanding. I'd highly recommend ordering individually off the menu and taking it home to go. The daal and roti is the bomb. They spice it up well, so be careful if you don't like a little heat. Enough rambling...just go there!

When i was in OK city for a few days, i was looking around on Yelp for good restaurants near downtown. I came across Tandoor and saw the ratings and reviews and thought Humm, seems like great Indian food. Went there. Pretty disappointed by the ghetto people in that area and the exterior of the restaurant and also the interior. Not many varieties to choose from. Confusing to order food (you have to order at the cashier). Not very friendly. They have like a counter kinda thing in front of the kitchen where the chef would put the order when it's ready and someone/waitress/whoever will go grab it and send to the table. Well, I didnt know they would service like that. So, when i saw my food placed on that counter, I just went and grabbed it. And then they were like oh we were gonna deliver it to you and then they laughed, and talked softly in Indian to each other and looked at me and laughed. Yeah what's so funny with customer picking up their own food? I felt uncomfortable. Back to food. It was Biryani. Big potion. A plus for that though but the taste, is just so so. Pretty bland .. that's all.

I have been here 4 times..loved the food BUT this time I called my order in because the wait can be awhile. My order would be done in 20 mins according to a man. I came 35 minutes later and waited at the counter for another 5 minutes before a lady peaked out. I told her I called in a order, she looked confused, checked some papers, I told her paneer tiki masala. She rushed to the back and peaked out and said 2 minutes. I asked "Is my order being cooked now? or is it done?" She replied "Its done." I wait 15 minutes. She told me to pay $10.73...i was like the menu says $8.99. She looks at the menu and says $9.99 and points to a different dish I didn't order. I repointed to my dish which clearly says $8.99. She says "Paneer $9.99" and points again to the other paneer dishes. I asked her what is this number next to my dish "8.99" The conversation stops and she just looks at me to pay the price she quoted or get out. I asked I want to speak to the man on the phone who speaks english. She is silent, the kitchen orders peek out and start to laugh at me. I kept my cool because I still have no idea what the hell is going on and the stare down match is still going on. I end up just paying BUT as she hands back the card to me she walks off....tells the kitchen staff to give me the receipt and package my meal...leaving me having to wait again for this changeover.... So my meal which should have taken 20 minutes to prepare in total took almost an hour before I left with food!!!!! VERDICT: Don't trust their prices! They can't speak English but they can LIE! Food is great but the service is horrible. The grocery store worker speaks perfect english yet she does not even try to help....I felt belittled for not being Indian and their lack of fluency is somehow my fault.

This is hands down the best Indian food in entire OKC area. This is as authentic as it gets - I've been there with several people that grew up in India or Pakistan and all of them have agreed it tastes like what they grew up with. I can't mention this place without mentioning the "ambiance". A lot of people may be put off by it, but it makes me love the place even more. It's inside a gas station/ truck stop. On MLK and Reno. And it still has up the decor (and menu) for the burger place that used to be there. So obviously, don't go there late at night (you actually may want to call and find out the hours before heading over since, like most true hole in the wall's, it probably has random hours) but do check them out. Note: a lot of their menu is zabiha

Some of the best Indian food I've ever tasted. Bonus points for my husband being solicited by a prostitute on the way out! Hey Ms. Lady of the Night...thanks for the compliment on our car...we think it is nice too. :)

Though the food was good, the 45 minute wait was just too long given the beyond-grubby atmosphere of the place. Customers order at the counter, and we stood there waiting for 5 minutes before anyone came to take our order. We stood at the counter to order and the woman behind the counter seemed somehow both bored and annoyed by us ordering. As I ordered she walked away when I was in the middle of a sentence and disappeared into the kitchen with no explanation, returning a couple minutes later. a A big tv in the corner was playing a DVD of a Bollywood movie, but it was on the title screen which loudly repeated about 30 seconds of the same song over and over, seeming to annoy no one but the customers. There are a few places in town which seem to defy you to eat there, Thai Palace in Edmond being another example. Being understaffed is just not an excuse for not wiping down the tables or clearing away customers' food--food left for the abundant flies. There was only one clean table to use. The food was good, no doubt, but as restaurant patrons we need to stop standing for bad service regardless of the quality of the food.

Walking to the location from the Econolodge, I was a little bit hesitant. It is inside of a gas station with advertising for all types of food all over the front of the building. I almost left, but i decided to trust the yelp reviews, and I am glad I did. I had the chicken Tikka Marsala. It was very flavorful, filled with green papers and cilantro and the portions were great.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the whole US. I have tried all restaurants in OKC, few in-around Dallas and San Antonio, but taste-wise they have the best food. I have tried their Chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, malai kofta, shahi paneer, chilly chicken, butter naan, mixed parauntha and 1-2 others items. Everything tastes so great and fresh. The problem with the restaurant is, the location is very bad. It's inside a gas station which is very odd for an indian restaurant. Most of the customer use to-go orders. The other main problem is, the restaurant is short of staff. The owner has hired an india husband-wife couple who do everything. I must say, they got extra-ordinary cooking skills. But, for two of them, it's very difficult to manage the whole restaurant. I got my orders done late most of the time. Once i got pissed and promised myself never to come back. But, the food is too good to resist. After sometime, i realized what the real problem and felt pity for the couple. I hope they hire more people soon. Food-wise no issues. Just go for it.

The Indian food is bomb. I'm no expert, but went with some Indian friends, and they said it was, so I went with it. Only problem is they are SLOW. There's no way around this. If you call ahead, they are actually slower. So plan on walking through the attached Indian grocery store and maybe watching a Baliwood flick on the bigscreen that's always on while you wait.

Outstanding Indian food in a nondescript, almost seedy truck stop? Absolutely! I wouldn't have believed the good reviews had I not ventured in to try this place myself. Inside JR's truckstop, which is near I-40 and an assortment of cheap drug addled hotels and amidst the lot lizards that populate the parking lot, is one of the best Indian dining experiences I have ever had! The exterior of this place belies the fact that they are serving some of the best Indian food in Oklahoma and quite possibly the country. This is an absolutely no frills restaurant and even locating it can be a challenge and once you get there you have an uneasy feeling about it, but just proceed - and you will thank me later! This place serves up authentic, North Indian cuisine on paper plates and without any service to speak of but it is worth it for their Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma and I'm assuming anything else they make. I dined here on a Saturday evening and was the only customer in the place which was a bit unsettling but once the food arrived, my apprehensions faded. I didn't try the buffet, as it was closed during the weekend, but have found that Indian buffets pale in comparison to ordering from the menu so I can't comment on that but overall this is one of the best Indian meals I have had. This puts to shame the scant few other OKC locations and even several in Manhattan. If they would just get out of this atrocious truck stop location, establish a real restaurant with service they would own the OKC Indian food scene!

It's in a gas station. Yes, I repeat, it is inside the store of a gas station. It still has the menu of the previous shop, which sold hamburgers, or fried chicken, or both... I can't remember because I was in shock. The place is sad and depressing until you see a sweet smile from your cook that will serve you an amazing meal. Be aware, I've been there a bunch if times (yes I'm a fan) and my partner who lived in India for a while (one year to be exact and travelled the country up and down) agrees the food is as Indian as it can be. The place is ubershabby, and going back to the be aware sentence, we have seen odd things in that parking lot, a person using a hanger to break into a car, needles in the ground.... So skip all that, walk to the counter and order one of each, then repeat. Oh tasty spicy meal... oh! Another be aware, the food is hot, there are some mean looking hot peppers in everything, and nobody will ever ask you the level of spice, but you have been told now! Enjoy

As others have said, yummy! A gem for road trippers trying to eat well close to the interstate. Though no one was near what used to be the fast food pay counter, we were frowned upon for being confused and walking to the check-out for the outstanding Indian market in the same space as the restaurant. Also, I don't recommend the bottled lassis in the chilled drinks display. Unlike fresh lassis, they were carbonated and not good.

Aight cowpokes, givin this place a 5 star RE-view is like saying sleepin in a bathtub was pretty comftable on account a the blankit. It's a truck stop and you're eating on a paper plate with cheap plastic ware. It's not a 5 star restaurant. That being said, despite the surroundings, it wasn't half bad. I wouldn't say it was exceptional, but it was pretty alright. Given that Oklahoma City doesn't have the most diverse offering of restaurants, I suppose for the location it's a viable option. The prices were very reasonable. The food was cooked properly. The chicken was tender. We had the buffet at lunch so I didn't experience the wait staff. The sauces seemed a bit thinner and less strong tasting than what I am used to for Indian food, and I didn't taste the "rich" taste I have seen in other reviews. I wonder if they dialed down the number of spices they were using. Anyway, it was a pretty run-of-the-mill Indian buffet which would not be hard to find in any other place.

Delicious Indian food. Their Shahi Paneer is very tasty. It's yummy comfort food. I also enjoy their Makhani Dal. Have also had their palak paneer (it was above average, but not the best I've had) before. Naan is made wonderfully. Would normally give this place 5 stars, but today for some reason the taste of my dishes was less developed than usual. Attribute it to maybe different people in the kitchen today (?) Still a great place for North Indian food at a no frills restaurant...be prepared for the dishes to be rich though.

I have to agree. The ambiance gets a negative ten but this is by far the best Indian food I have ever had. What a bizarre place and what luck that we just happened to be starving while passing through on the 40. Massive portions that left overs became breakfast at 6 am driving in to Albuquerque...

Excellent North Indian spot that was tasty, spicy, cheap and served in big portions. Made to order and can hang with any Indian food I've had anywhere in the U.S. Vegetarian options clearly marked and many of them vegan. Highly recommended.

This place isn't shady. At all. It just isn't full of white people, which freaks some white people out. That aside, the food was amazing. I had the chicken korma, rice and naan. This is the best korma in Oklahoma City. Hands down. My only regret is that I ordered it mild because other reviews led me to believe they over-spice their food, but the opposite was true. I wish I'd ordered at least a solid medium. The grocery attached to the restaurant is amazing. It's definitely worth poking around in.

Not sure what everyone else ate, but the food here is horrible. Ordered the chicken biryani, it came out cold, bland and a waste of $7.99 plus tax. Got lured in by the good yelp reviews, but don't make the same mistake I did, avoid this place like the plague!!!!

Yes, yes, and yes. This place is delicious, and you got to trust me on it. However, I recommend never going alone, order to-go, and don't bring any valuables! Haha, maybe it isn't that bad, but definitely not the "warmest" place I've seen in Oklahoma. You may be ordering some of the best indian food in the state of Oklahoma in a gas station. Do it. I thought I never would. Then i went to try it, and it looked worse than I imagined. But they have such good masalas and tandoori chicken. It's made just right. If you're lucky, you'll ask your boyfriend or husband to make these food runs so you won't have to go there alone hehe

I come out here for lunch every so often because it is affordable, more authentic and convenient. It has a lunch buffet mon-fri and it us 7.99+tax =$8.66. There are usually 2 chicken items (one is Tandoori chicken), rice, meatballs and 2 vegetable items on the buffet. They bring the freshly made naans to the table which is a plus... The food is spicier than most Indian buffet restaurants around town. The cleanliness could be improved as we found 1 table that was clean. They usually have 1 dessert item like rice pudding but you will leave out of there full. Most people I bring are skeptical but usually come back again the next time. It won the shady restaurant of the month previously... But the food keeps it alive. There is a grocery store inside so you can pick up vegetables and spices etc. A successful lunch? I think so.

I moved to Oklahoma City a little over a year ago and have tried just about every Indian restaurant in the area and haven't found any that met my expectations. This place has been on my radar but I was very hesitant to try it due to the location. I'm so disappointed that I let the location keep me away. I had the tikka masala and nan, best in OKC.

I ordered chicken tikka masala and naan with high hopes after reading so many wonderful reviews. The naan was a huge portion and really delicious. It's the only reason why I gave two stars. So incredibly disappointed by the chicken tikka masala. I say this with a heavy heart but the sauce was the worst I've ever had. Maybe I've only been to Americanized Indian restaurants but in my experience the sauce is creamy, well blended, and full of flavor. I really couldn't hardly taste anything past the spice-ness and onion. Sad face. Maybe it was an off day but I won't be trying it again.

Now this was an adventure. I've had Tandoor bookmarked for well over a year or two, but its not in the best area of town & I've never really been close by with a craving for Indian food. The stars aligned & I recently was in the area & ready to give it a try. Sadly, I was flying solo that day. Apparently I didn't look at pictures and reviews closely enough because when I pulled up & saw that this was located in a shady looking gas station I was a bit surprised. Honestly, I thought twice about even going in. Lucky for me I didn't punk out. The restaurant is inside the gas station in what I can only imagine was once a Wendy's or Burger King. The man behind the counter did not speak much english at all. In fact, there was a significant language barrier. There were only a few items available on the menu so I went with the Curry Chicken & an appetizer I can't honestly remember the name of, but I know it had chick pees. The chicken curry came with a large side of basmati rice which happens to be my favorite rice. The curry chicken & rice were cooked perfectly. Large tender chunks of chicken. The appetizer was really good as well. This is one of those places, like others have said already, you can't judge it by the cover. The food seems very fresh, cooked perfectly, friendly service and delicious food. Don't let the shady exterior scare you off. I'm definitely going to be back. The biggest downside was the small number of items on the menu & difficulty communicating with the employees. If you already know a few Indian items you like, you should be good.

So this place is amazing considering it's in a somewhat sketchy gas station. The goat curry was good and only awarding four stars since the nan was a little disappointing.

This place might throw you off at first, understandably...... Is this fine Indian dining? Nope. Is it located in a Truck Stop? Yep. Will you consider turning and departing once you get there? Yep. Will you love the food? Absolutely. This is how most of my meals were delivered during my Indian travels: No fuss and no muss, just well prepared dishes. So, if you're looking for a date night, this is not the place to come. Unless she is really easy going and adventurous, like mine. :-) Anyway, come here for the food, and maybe some random Indian groceries, and to fill up your gas tank.... but don't come for the ambiance! That said: The Chicken Qorma was delicious! I asked for extra spicy, and he delivered. Hot Nan Bread? Check. Some hearty Mutter Paneer to go with that? Yes Please! Finish it off with a take-away Masala Chai. It was all good.

Tandoor Restaurant. It's THE Best. Simple as that. Hubby & I have lunch here when he's in a rush bc its close to his office. He also picks up take out usually on Tuesdays & Thursdays to bring home since it's conveniently right next to his office. WOOHOO! :)' It's not a place you go to have dinner. Take out only. Unless having dinner in a sketchy gas station on the wrong side of town after dark is a thrill ride for you. I mean, its sketchy enough in the daylight to have lunch at this joint. However, we keep coming back bc the food is off the chain. OFF THE CHAIN! Tandoor Restaurant isn't your average Indian food. First of all they are from Nepal & Tibet. You can also get some cool Tibetan goods from inside the gas station. Anyhoo, its not your average Indian food bc it's not Indian food, it's Tibetan & Nepalese/Indian food. That's why it's so freakin AMAZBALLS! YUM YUM YUM YUM :).... LOL Some of the reviews say the people that work here are rude & standoffish. That is totally not true. They couldn't be more sweet & genuine. The people here are very shy Tibetan monks & Nepalese Sharma super chef sweethearts. They are always kind to us & make the most unbelievable delicious dishes, one more incredible than the next. When we order we just ask what they got. It's NEVER on the freakin menu. They will just tell you what they got cookin in back & trust me, just say, "Lay it on me! Give me whatever you got today Sharma God Bless!" While you put your hands together like prayer hands, say a little mantra while you wait for your take-out & prepare to be blessed :) Just like the prayer flags, their food is a blessing & there are few things more beautiful than colorful prayer flags fluttering in the winds, sometimes waving gently, sometimes raging. Just like the Sharma Chef''s flavor profiles. Everything is seasoned to perfection. Sometimes you will get whole cardamon pods in some dishes or whole cloves & chilies in others. The flavors range from gentle to explosive, all beautiful masterpieces. If you want it hot, I double dog dare you to ask for it hot. It will come raging HOT! It's a awesome hot. However, you will need a full yogurt lassi to put out that fire! LOL Their dishes are culinary blessings just like the ancient Buddhist prayers that are written on the Tibetan prayer flags. The prayer flags hold a spiritual vibration that is carried by the wind across the lands. All people that are touched by the winds that carry the prayers become uplifted & happier just like after you eat that special green Opo squash dish the Sharma made me the other day :)' They say the silent written prayers on the prayer flags are blessings spoken on the breath of nature, then dissolve in the wind becoming a permanent part of the universe for us all to hear & benefit from. I think I heard one whisper to me the other day to go have lunch at Tandoor Restaurant. And you know what? I hope you hear that silent prayer soon too. Especially the one about the green Opo squash dish & the bhindi masala. It was truly a blessing :)'

I ordered takeout, and it was all packaged so neatly. I had a big order, so he helped me carry it to my car. It was spicy, authentic, and delicious. Definitely coming back.

I haven't had Indian food that was this good since my husband and I lived off of Indian takeaway in Oxford, England in 1999. While the place is a dive, and no attempt has been made to create ambiance, you just don't care once the food arrives. The food is spectacular. We ordered chicken curry, shrimp curry and chicken tikka masala. The food came with plenty of basmati rice, which was perfectly prepared. (The server told us we could ask for more rice if we wanted it.) We ordered four pieces of naan bread. The individual breads must have been huge, because they had been cut into pieces, which filled an oblong basket that was at least 14 inches long. And oh, what naan bread. It was moist and charred, just as it should be. I didn't ask, but I suspect they have a tandoor. Only one hiccup: we ordered cucumber raita, and it never arrived, but neither were we charged. It wasn't on the menu, either. Speaking of the menu, it isn't huge. I wish I had taken a picture to post for your reference, but I forgot. Our meal came to $33 for three entrees and four pieces of naan. We had water, but bottled drinks are available (including imports like yogurt lassee -I'm sure I spelled that wrong and unusual flavors of Fanta). The floor space devoted to the Indian restaurant is divided between an Indian grocery and the restaurant. The cashier/cook hands you a handwritten ticket after your meal, and you pay the gas attendant on the way out. (The gas station and restaurant have the same ownership.) So go. Don't put it off. Just go.

This place is off the hook... Looks like a bit of a dump but the food is awesome - chicken tikka masala and garlic naan - wow. I like it spicy, but use caution - I ordered it medium after reading other reviews and I was sweating...

This place has the best Navratan Korma (off the menu, not the buffet) I've ever had. It was thick, creamy, and delicious. Unfortunately, I like my Indian food buffet-style and the buffet was really lacking. We ate at the buffet kind of late though so maybe it's better during peak hour. The atmosphere is really fast-foody and unappealing since it is located in a gas station. I'll give the buffet 3 stars and ordering off the menu 5 stars so I'll average that out at 4 stars overall.

Amazingly yummy Indian food! And you just have to smile at the unlikely location. Everyone was super friendly and the food was excellent!!

I know everyone has said this, but don't let the facade fool you. Once we were sure we were in the right place, we found Sam, who helped us determine what to order, and how much of it we might need. I ran across to the dining room, past the cool Indian grocery section, and back into the gas station from whence we came to buy some Champagne of Beers! What kinda deal is that? So, we waited patiently while Sam prepared our lunch to order. When be brought out the large sliver ovals full of steaming hot basmati, garlic naan, palak paneer, bhindi masala, samosas, chicken tikka masala, and chicken curry. It was all so good I was almost unable to do anything but eat. I was enjoying the company of my dining partners, but once that food showed up, all my social graces all but disappeared. I went from making thoughtful comments and queries to pretty much just eating, as much as possible, as quickly as possible. But man was it hot. So hot. So, so hot. This is one of the things you can only learn by going to a place, to learn what medium spicy and very spicy means to them. Well, I think everyone in my group was a pretty adventurous eaters, but middle spicy was simply way too spicy. All of us were uncomfortable, it was so spicy. But it was so good, we just kept eating. And eventually, we could all feel our mouths again, so it all worked out. We will definitely go back, and now that we know to order it not so spicy, I'm sure we'll be big fans. I just can't do five stars based on the atmosphere, with tables they borrowed from a burger king, but I doubt anyone minds that. I'm much more likely to be in the mood for this four star gas station Indian restaurant than a five star fancy French joint. I can't wait to go back.

Wow! I want to thank each of you brave yelpers who checked this place out and posted reviews because there is no way I would have ever eaten here. It is inside of a gross truck stop and you have to walk through the gas station entrance to get to the restaurant. I went for lunch and they had their buffet up for only $6.99. A real bargain considering everything tastes outstanding! I could not believe how delicious the food their was. The restaurant only had a few random Indian people there who were suspiciously watching me as if I had entered their secret club (although they were all very friendly). Anyways, I can't say enough about how good the food was. If you like Indian food at all, this place will knock your socks off. Also, they don't accept American Express

Restaurant in the back of an Indian grocery, which is at the side of a gas station/convenience store/Subway. Food is not bad. The lunch buffet was a little thin on selection (three meat dishes; beef meatballs in sauce, tandoori chicken, and a really good chicken curry) but everything was good & the Nan was excellent. A guy brought us fresh Nans and some chicken straight off the tandoori while we were eating. It was right on the edge of spicy (hot) for me, and maybe a little beyond for my wife. All in all I thought it was a pretty good deal for $7.99, better than getting a footlong at the subway counter :)

In my eyes, a solid five star rating. No, the ambiance and setting isn't picture perfect. In fact, it felt like I was sitting in a restaurant inside gas station. So, no, don't go if that's not your thing. Let me say, my brush with Indian food is getting a curry recipe off a popular website to try my hand at making it myself. And buying Italy's equivalent to Prego: tikka masala sauce in a jar. Don't judge me. So with that being said, I don't really have a true experience with Indian dining. I've also recently adapted an almost dairy free(health reasons) and an almost vegetarian diet(personal reasons.) The man who took my order took the time to help me order something that could fit the bill. Very nice, and very helpful. I'm also very indecisive about ordering something from a restaurant I've never been to before; in my eyes, this is a serous commitment! I expect to be wowed every time I dine out ;-) So, on to the actual food. I ordered the Daal, one piece of garlic naan, and a samosa(Thank you yelper Quijana B. for reminding me of what it's called!) It. Was. Delicious. It had flavorful spices and was a good portion. I could only eat half and took the rest home in a to go box(which I'm anticipating the devouring of.) I loved the naan. It had a lot of wonderful garlic and was nicely charred in a couple places. The basmati rice was really good, not sure what else to say about it; it's rice haha! You can mess up rice, however, this was not one of those cases. The daal was just. just. Wow. I'm not sure of everything in it. I was told it's chickpea soup, my taste buds told me it was a utopia of spices and heat. No, I'm not lying! But one of my favorite things is cilantro, so I might be a little biased here. They knew just the right amount to add. The samosa was great. Filled, fried, and fab. I love potatoes :) I only had water to drink, so can't comment on any beverages. I also had a taste of the masala sauce on my husband's shrimp masala, waaay better than the aforementioned jarred variety! The man who took our order was friendly and helpful, that's always nice to see in the restaurant business. The food was great. The price for two pieces of naan, two samosas and two entrees with rice was 24 dollars. A little pricey for lunch, but c'mon, a lot of people pay almost that for two meal combos at a fast food joint only to get food that is not even nearly as good. I would say the price for the amount of life altering food was justified. I would like to try the buffet though! Would I go back? Yes, Yes, a million times Yes.

Good Lord, who knew that a gas station would make such deliciousness?! In short don't get a sandwich at subway, Get Indian. Ask for mild "like for a baby" (is what I said) if you need it mild. The food was still spicy for my Midwestern palate, but I cooled it with a mango lassi. Just make sure to take one that's not expired, there was one that was expired.

I went at lunch and was offered the buffet. While the food WAS okay, the ambience in a truck stop that was not altogether clean and tidy detracted from appeal the food may have had to start with. The tandoor chicken was dry, but otherwise passable. the saag was a bit bland for my taste, as was the chicken and meatball curries. There was only white rice (no saffron basmati!) and i am pretty sure the gulab jamun was not prepared on site. For the price, I think Khazana or Taj offer much more and better food choices. I will cross this one off my list.

went there today and had some amazing food. my husband and his best friend couldn't stop raving about how the naan as well as the chicken curry was to die for. will eat there again

I can act like I am shocked that an amazing Indian restaurant and grocery is attached to a gas station, but hole-in-the-walls are usually the best, and guess what? Tandoor is the best. Go through the gas station's front doors, hook a left, and don't miss out on the aisles of Indian groceries as you make your way to the Tandoor counter. Make sure to ring the bell if it looks like no one is there! My group was trying Tandoor for the first time so we got a sampling: chicken tikka masala (chicken in a spicy and creamy tomato/coriander sauce), palak paneer (pureed spinach curry sauce with chunks of tofu), bhindi masala (spicy okra), samosas (fried pastry with savory filling) sitting on a bed of channa masala (lightly sauced chickpeas and friends), garlic naan, and plenty of basmati rice to go around. Everything is made fresh to order, so take a seat and relax, maybe even grab some beer from the gas station - we did! Everything turned out exactly how you want it to, only better. The tikka masala was cooked beautifully, as was the bhindi masala. The basmati was light and fluffy and flavorful, while the garlic naan was garlicky and addictive. One word of advice: be careful on the spice! We got the medium hotness and that was HOT. It was delicious, and we powered through, sweating away, but if you are afraid of some spice, I would ask for it to be mild. Very mild. I recommend purchasing some Lassi (yogurt drink), which can be found by the front. It's the perfect antidote to a fiery mouth! Between the wonderful dishes, friendly service, extremely reasonable prices, Indian market, and a unique location, this is a culinary adventure through and through.

Hands down, the best Indian food that I've found in OKC. But...be aware, this place is literally in a gas station/truck stop. You have to show up to order (from what I've read from other Yelpers, even if you phone in an order for take-out, they wait until you show up to start making it) and it takes them about 15 minutes to get the food ready. We tried the vegetable samosas which come with a spicy chickpea mixture which was quite yummy. We had three dinners, the palak paneer, the paneer tikka masala and the chicken tikka masala, with naan, of course! I haven't ever really been a fan of palak paneer, so I don't really feel like I can adequately review this, but both of the tikka dinners were pretty delish! The chicken in the chicken tikka was perfectly cooked, not tough at all! and the naan in the sauce was seriously delicious. This place is definitely a drive away, but it's really worth it, especially in OKC where there really isn't a selection of good Indian food. Oh, and there's a good Indian grocery store that's part of this truck stop as well, so if you're looking for a specific indian food or spice, this is a great place to look!

Stopped here while traveling through OKC. This restaurant is tucked away inside what looks like a truck stop on the outside, so you'll miss it if you are looking for a free standing building. The lunch buffet was relatively small, but made-up for it with very favorable entrees in complex tasting sauces. The seasoning is not "dumbed down" and opens your breathing pathways without being too hot or overwhelming. the restaurant is combined with an Indian grocery store and is very informal (think paper plates), so do not bring a prom date here. However, if you like good Indian food, this place works - especially for a traveler looking for something more than the hit or miss of dining while traveling.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for saving me from another meal at IHOP. Friendly proprietor and really tasty goat curry, onion and garlic naans, and rice. Like the other reviews say, it's worth braving the service station. The made to order entrees are a little pricier than the buffet, which had been well depleted by the time my friends and I arrived.

This was really delightful. The naan was perfect. The goat curry was tender and full of flavor. The chicken tikka masalla was the best I have had in OKC. Strange place.

Best North Indian food in the region! Lived in Dallas for 4 years, there is no place that even comes close in the DFW area. There's really not much to say, this is an authentic Indian restaurant and in my opinion would hold its own even if in NYC. The only downsides are that the a la carte service is slow (because they make the food fresh), and for a gas station, it's relatively expensive (~8-10/person).

As everyone says, it's hard to believe that this great Indian food joint is in a generic truck stop, but the food is fantastic. Try the lunch special (non-vegetarian is chicken) with three dishes, rice, and bread (excellent). All for $8.00.

It is a very unique experience. The food was delicious and came within 10 min of ordering. The Bollywood movie was playing and some of the food came in styrofoam, which is convenient considering you will need a container for the leftovers. We got the chicken biryani (med spicy) and chicken tikka masala. Another indicator of good ethnic food is when the customers are of that ethnicity, they know where to get food from their home country. Don't go for the ambiance, you will be disappointed, it really is in JR's gas station. If you want authentic East Indian food, try it you'll like it. Take it from an old Air Force retiree. LT

I'm Indian and have eaten indian food the majority of my life. This is hands down the best north Indian food I've ever had. I got the chicken tikka and bhindi masala and both were unreal. Try it!!!!!

Okay, the five stars are for the food -- just the food, nothing but the food. Service is sketchy, no menus in the two places where it says "take a menu," and the decor is non-existent. I mean, it's in a truck stop, for pete's sake. But, the food is spectacular. I love Indian food, and I'm particular about it. I live in Dallas and there are loads of good Indian restaurants in that city. But, this place? The food is as good as or better than any I've had in Dallas, and that's tall cotton. I got the Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken), Saag Paneer, rice and Naan. Delicious -- every bite. Authentic, not dumbed down in spice (if you don't like it on the spicy side, tell them, because this has some heat. Not to the point that it gets in the way of the food, which happens frequently at Indian restaurants, but there is heat), perfectly cooked. Great prices, huge portions. So, gather up your courage, walk in, order it "to go," buy some cold beer (Remember? It's in a truck stop), pick up your Indian food and go home or to the motel across the street like I'm doing. And, you'll enjoy it -- promise.
